The school holidays are here! – heaven help us…

Ok, so when the sun is shining there are tonnes of outdoor activities to entertain the kids, but if you are looking for something to do on a wet afternoon this recipe for Chocolate Fork biscuits is quick, easy and great to get the little ones involved. Here’s is our recipe adapted from Mary Berry’s

Chocolate Fork Biscuits

Ingredients:

100g butter, soft
50g caster sugar
30g cocoa
120g self raising flour (or if you only have plain add 1 tsp of baking powder)

Method:

1. Cream together the butter and caster sugar in a large bowl – a wooden spoon workout or electric mixer/whisk. You are aiming for pale and fluffy
2. Sieve the flour and cocoa into the butter and sugar mixture
3. Gradually incorporate the flour/cocoa into the mixture
4. Get your hands in the bowl to bring it together until you can form a dough
5. Take pieces of the dough and roll into ping pong sized balls
6. Preheat the oven to 170C
7. Place on a greased baking tray a few cms apart
8. You then need to flatten the balls down – here comes the ‘pat’, small hands are perfect for this or the back of a fork
9. Bake for 15 mins or until the cookie bounces back to the touch
10. Lift from the tray and allow to cool on a cooling rack, then serve. Yummy on their own or with ice cream
